An interesting observation and one reason I think the GR narrative
voice(s) is/are so unique. Can't think of a similar instance. Other
authors, like Faulkner, change voice when they change narrator or
point-of-view. Pynchon is more like Robin Williams' genie in Alladin, 
changing voices at will or whim, breaking into song or some other
form of parody. Of course, Pynchon did it years before Robin Williams
(who, btw, would make a great reader if the book is ever captured
on audio tape).
