I'd emphatically second Tarkovsky if he weren't dead (sorry John).  Although 
perhaps that might not matter...

There are to be sure a whole number of movies inside GR.  One way I imagine 
it is something like Joyce Cary did with his trilogies---the same story from 
three points of view.  Slothrop, Enzian, Mexico, Pirate, Katje---there, we 
even have the names of the segments.   I agree it would be more achievable 
in video, but I'd like to see pretty lush cinematography, say like Winds of 
War, but that cost a zillion dollars...in the end, you wouldn't have 
Gravity's Rainbow The Movie, but more like Some Movies of Gravity's Rainbow.
