I would as well but.... 
I am sure if tarkovsky directed GR it would have been a totaly personal 
GR and probably totaly different from what we know it today. As an 
example you can see the differences in the script and of Stalker 
and the Strugatsky brothers book. (The Stalker is a totaly different 
character)

It is actually interesting to speculate about tarkovsky's view of 
Slothrop. Would he have been pictured as a holy savant? (like the Stalker)
