I hate to be drawn in in this discussion about the gr film, but alas i
find myself too weak here....

I was thinking last night about my reply yesterday, talking about a
totaly personalised GR film that will have to "suffer" the interpretation
of Andrei Tarkovsky, and of course it was natural to think that this
would be the standard thing for all directors: they would impose on us
viewers/readers their personal view of slothrop and the wonderful world
of GR. I made a list of films with different directors and different
interpretations that I would like to see (never mind most of the
directors are dead, we're doing it for fun anyway!)

GR by Andrei Tarkovsky
with Anatoly Solonitsin as Slothrop.
Slothrop is a holy fool, (along the lines of Stalker or of Dostoyevski's
The fool). In the underworld of an uknown country he searches for
salvation, of himself but of the world around him as well. Bianca is the
witch/Mary who helps in the salvation. (remember the maid in The sacrifice).

GR by Federico Fellini (That would be great)
with Marcello Mastroyanni (of course).
Thats more complicated. Is the world around slothrop real or a dream. He
is shattered he is destroyed he doesn't belong in this world. Yet he has
to follow its flow.

GR by Wim Wenders (interesting choice)
(with his girlfriend in the part of Katje)
Hm... I do not know him very well. I expect some excellent `dream'
scenes, ( LSD halucinations)

GR by Pier Paolo Pasolini.
(with the guy who was starring in Acatone and Oedipus Rex as Slothrop)
A good choice for a Slothrop along the lines of the hero of Theorem. A
person bringing slavation through sex. (salvation being the V2?). The
sequences in the zone are scenes totaly unconnected from each other.
Lovemaking with Bianca is also a salvation.

GR by Alfred Hitchcock
(Cary grant as Slothrop???!!)
The hero marches in the zone searching for a mystery device. He finds it
in a town but the town is attacked by crazy pigs...

any more?
