I agree but since Vineland's focus is so much more earthy and not 
metaphysical wouldn't a reader not familiar with TRP's other works not 
really get the point about Them and speculations brought forth in GR?.  
Based upon the centrality of the female characters in Vineland, the "lost 
boys, drugs", nostalgia  thing still seems prominent in my mind (Zoyd did 
take acid in watching Prarie being born, n'est pas?)

Joyce always criticized his own works in his later works/ideas  maybe TRP 
 doing a bit of the same.



By the way GR companion has the word 'eventyr' as danish for 'adventure'. 
 In McHugh's annotations to Finnegans Wake, eventyr is defined as  'fairy 
tale'.
