Pynchon has spent the last decade trying desperately to get out of debt.  He
has been churning out legal/adventure pot-boilers under the ludicrous
pseudonym -- get this! -- John Grisham.  Unfortunately, these trashy titles
have all been dismal failures, selling even more poorly than The Crying of
Lot 49.
