he prefers its stench of shit to the malodor of putrescent whales; Stubb
refers to the Rose-bud's crew as "Crappoes of Frenchmen"..."

Quite interesting, especially in view of the reported rumor that one reason
Hearst got so upset about CITIZEN KANE was that "Rosebud" was his nickname
for his favorite part of Marion Davies!
