>From Josiah S:

It's always struck me as intriguing that Hippocratic temperament was used in
classifying the dogs, since, as far as I know, it had fallen out of fashion
by the early 19th century. Is it a dig at the Pavlovians - that they're
using a scheme that's as dead as phlogiston theory?

Seems like Tom SEEKS OUT outmoded schemes (religious and cultural as well as scientific) to make good natured mockery of.

Saves him a lot of work.

Have never gotten my hands on "The Book" but apparently only
small liberties had to be taken. This is the sense one would get from
the Gravity's Rainbow Companion which went back to the original
model.
