Blah blah blicero

My phonetic reading has always been "blitzero," which gives me "blitz" and "zero" as well as most of the other words people have mentioned. The white and bleached themes fit with "blitz" (blitzen = lightning), and as for zero, well maybe instead of "beyond the zero" the Kapitän is right at it, as in "ground zero."
And now, from my pernicious reading-ahead, here's another name to conjure with, Tchitcherine's Kirghiz sidekick Dzhakyp Qulan (spelling approximate, natch). I read the first name as a Central Asian/Russian spelling of Jacob, and I read the surname as Quillan or something similar. And it seems to ring a bell and I hear the name "Jake Quillan" (or maybe it's "Jack") but for the life of me I can't connect that with anything. Help!
Cheers,
David
