And now, from my pernicious reading-ahead, here's another name to conjure
with, Tchitcherine's Kirghiz sidekick Dzhakyp Qulan (spelling approximate,
natch).  I read the first name as a Central Asian/Russian spelling of
Jacob, and I read the surname as Quillan or something similar.  And it
seems to ring a bell and I hear the name "Jake Quillan" (or maybe it's
"Jack") but for the life of me I can't connect that with anything.  Help!
