FWIW, the fairly expensive of editions of Pynchon's novels available through amazon.com are in fact library editions - the paperbacks with the covers artfully removed, and then glued back on 3rd party "hard covers". Sturdy, but not worth paying triple the cost of the paperback unless you're a diehard completist. Chris
