Deborah Madsen, who is on this list, has a book out (1991) called "The 
Postmodern Allegories of Thomas Pynchons". She contrasts TRP with N, 
defining Nabokov's fiction as modern allegories and TRP's fiction as 
postmodern allegories. I found her approach and discussion extremely 
useful, while not necessarily agreeing with her conclusions. Try it - 
it has good references re. both N and TRP for further reading.
