Too self-aware--too trend-conscious (QT is a trend, to be sure, but i don't think 
he makes movies that give them popular expression).   How about Tom 
Robbins-- a clear but superficial relationship between them, but one 
unquestionably deeper and more visceral (despite his love for blood 
and guts, QT is not a visceral moviemaker,IMHO--nothing, as it were, 
sticks...)
