Sure, Steely Dan's cooly astringent irony, with neo-bop trimmings, has
an affinity with one of TRP's (many) tones. And Captain Beefheart with
TRP's wild, passionate, visionary aspect. But then what about TRP's
dark and ravishing lyricism?
Only one band combines all these tones -- the Velvet Underground, of
course!
