Pynchon's band

In relation to recent comments about the supposed musicians in a band that
Pynchon was/should be in:

Steeley Dan - Too slick and produced. Pynchon I don't think would go for
these guys.

Eugene Chadbourne - Musically yes, I don't know anything about the person.

Velvet Underground - I think this is the maybe the best (or second best)
choice so far. Although the VU and Andy Warhol and that whole New York
crowd seem like a real life Whole Sick Crew. I'm not sure how Pynchon
would feel about their music, but their life style seems right on.

Frank Zappa - Musically seems the best choice. He's an excellent musician
with an interest in music for its own sake. He also has that Pynchon sense
of humor, and disdain for authority. He supposedly did not do any drugs,
but was certainly surrounded by them. But I think the Frank Zappa scene is
a little too hippy for Pynchon. Perhaps if Lou Reed were combined with
Frank Zappa we would have a potential Pynchon playing partner (sorry!)
                                                Ethan Schofer
