Update on the Pynchon Notes Web site

After we first announced the PN Web site, we heard from several people
who were having trouble seeing the right colors, or readable text,
or anythng at all.  Glad we hadn't taken down the "Under Construction"
notice; we still haven't, but we think we've made some progress.  We may 
never manage to be all things to all browsers, but we hope not to exclude 
anyone.  For low-tech people and systems, be assured Lynx willdisplay 
everything just fine (I ought to know; that's what I use).  For users 
of Netscape 2.x (beta?) who were seeing dark text on a black background,
please have another look now; we think we've fixed that.  MS Explorer
was drawing a blank, but the latest word is that all the PN pages now show 
up fine in it too.  One Mosaic user reported seeing startling red text on a
startling yellow background, which isn't what we've coded for, but if it's 
readable at all, that's something to be thankful for.  Some browsers that don't
support tables may show a chaotic array of links on two pages, but we're 
hoping that won't be common or disabling.  Thanks to everyone who sent 
good words and advice, and thanks to everyone for patience.
