Actually, it is unabomber (UNA = UNiversities + Airlines).
Anyway, I checked the page, too-subtle humor, or truly pathetic? You
decide. A quote from the last paragraph:
My letters to the New York Times and the Washington Post went unanswered
and unpublished. Little notice was taken of the fifty fliers I posted
around the Washington Mall, the FBI building, and the National Press
Club. but I've pressed on, gaining converts one at a time, hoping that
soon public pressure will force editorials in the nation`s presses
urging the FBI to take in Mr. Pynchon for questioning. Then I'll be
vindicated, a lone man with an idea, never falling prey to the
irrational.
That paragraph seems a little too "I'm not crazy" for me... I'd
hope that Pynchon would be a little more subtle. He seems to have
a good feel for psy-ops, so I'd think that'd be his style.
Speaking of psy-ops, wasn't there an episode in one of the Robert Anton
Wilson novels where some place goes out of business after someone
surreptitiously posts a "no spitting on the floor or looking out the
door" sign? Hmmm, hadn't heard from R.A.W. in the last few years
either, didn't he live in California? Uh oh.
