Don't overlook "the Moms" in _Infinite Jest_. I am still slightly shy
of p. 600 but she has begun to "show" and I expect the worst. Maybe
I'll be wrong. (Actually, for what it's worth, Wallace seems to have
a greater respect for womenkind than one might have expected given his
general willingness to best Pynchon in the gross department by an order
of
magnitude.)

Other interesting female figures- Not only Moms-'Madame Psychosis' (or
DMZ), the Bloody Sister, Kate Gompert's It, U.S.S. Millicent Kent (her
attempted seduction of Mario reminded me of Shekinah episode by the pool
in GR but I might be stretching a bit.) Coke-head whore chasing Poor
Tony, Helen Steeply-triple agent? transvestite. All have things in
common and I feel could lumped under the 'Madame' moniker-this IMHO is
the 'V' of the book. One of the more interesting threads in a book with
many not to mention parallels it boggles the mind. Into the 700's at
least...
