The alleged Pynchon liner notes to Barefoot in the Head sound nothing like
Pynchon, and everything like the obnoxious Byron Coley, who used to(?) write
jiveass rock criticism for Forced Exposure and a little magazine I used to
write for called Matter. It would be very much in character for Coley to
sign his liner notes "Pynchon".
I was equally skeptical that Pynchon could possibly have written liner notes
for Lotion until I read them, but they're classic Pynchon. In fact, it
wasn't until I read the Lotion notes that I became convinced that Tinasky is
not Pynchon. The Pynchon "footprint" that is so crystal clear in his little
blurb for the Lotion CD is just not there in the Tinasky letters.
