which allows me to splinter off from the larger question w/ this one: what are the
standard netiquette behaviors? I am a hopeless ignoramus when it comes to the
finer points of computer (not to say human) communication. Why don't people
use quotes to mark ironic expressions? Why is it a breach to email someone
privately, as davemarc sez above? What other standard forms of netiquette are
known to everyone but (I suspect) me? What gaffes have I committed all
unknowingly? Would be most grateful for enlightenment, either public or private.
And a final question: is this list an instance of--pop--culture?
