On Tom's taste for the fringe population: is this anything unusual?
I mean, non-conformists are simply more interesting to write about. I
have a hard time drawing a line connecting the WSC with the Counterforce,
or even the VL hippies. The latter two both have their ideals, desires to
affect change. They have their well-meaning ambitions, even if not
the power to see them through. The Crew, on the other hand, seems less
characterized by progressive thought, than by just general lack of
thought.

You all prolly already know more information about more Al Wangs than
you'd care to, but for clarification, this is the Al who is an undergrad
at the University of Pennsylvania. Major in bioengineering, minors in
math, English, and cognitive science. Right now, I spend most of my time
slumming about my lab reading pynchon-l at work while I should be writing
software.
