Usually, I lurk. Though I recall a flame war that I began some time ago
about Brett Eastin Ellis' _American Psycho_. In any event:

I studied Comp. Lit. at Berkeley in the late eighties, when Comp. Lit. had
just stopped meaning "comp. lit." and now it meant "literary theory".
Accordingly, I fancied myself Derridean and then later Lacanian. For a
second, I tried working on a PhD at the same institution. It fizzled, and
I moved to the circuit board (cf. COL49) called Los Angeles.

Now I am a lobbyist for the military industrial complex and console myself
with re-reading the Jacobean revenge play bit from TRP's "minor" work. The
other day I was chatting with a psychoanalyst and found myself using the
extra-special term "always already" and had to run back to my 12-step D.A.
(Deconstructors Anonymous) group for a meeting. Avital, save me.

My other favorite author is Nick Cave (_And the Ass Saw the Angel_, as well
as a prolific assortment of song lyrics that, as they say, rule--early Bad
Seeds ruling over later Bad Seeds and Birthday Party [excepting "Mutiny in
Heaven"], imho).

So good to be heard.
