Hi all,

Among other things, Mike Beiderbecke writes:

Boy, ain't that the truth.  I have concluded that TRP and I don't
have much in common in terms of taste in fiction.  A pity, really;
I'd love to have a wickedly intelligent, widely-read guide to
introduce me to stuff I won't find on my own.

(Speaking of which, I tried a few things from the canonical list
that Steely posted several weeks ago.  Among them, James Ellroy,
who Steely pegged as "noir" if I recall correctly.  All I can say
is, if this is noir, give me gris ... and call me a weenie if you
must.)
