So;
You are Mike Beiderbecke and live in Nashville, where you buy books
for a rather large book wholesaler. This lets you read voraciously, if
indiscriminately. There is a lot of junk published, but on occasion you find
some gems, e.g., _Frank's World_, Rupert Thomson, Steven Wright, Rod Jones,
Matt Ruff.
You lucked out when you were looking for the fattest paperback in
existence, because you decided to take only one book on your three month
trip to Mexico after graduating from high school, and it was GR. You loved
it and never got bored, even on the long bus ride home.
This led you to the other works of TRP, and bunches of Lit Crit
about those things. All that stuff now takes up about eight feet on your
bookshelf. Not to mention the stacks of PN and sundry articles and xeroxes
that are stacked around. The first editions, you think, were well worth the
money.
Then off to the University of Colorado for a degree in philosophy
and since then an unfocused bunch of courses that might or might not ever
end up being a post-graduate degree
You also have a tendency to read books that have blurbs by TRP, but
are disappointed more often than not. Working for a wholesaler, you also
like to pick up rumors (the Saab, the son, the spouse, etc.).
Also because you like this list, and have access to lots of books
and get a discount on anything you buy, you would offer that same discount
to anybody on the list who wants a book.
Your musical inclinations lean toward La Monte Young, Steve Reich,
Phillip Glass, John Adams, Brian Eno, Tangerine Dream, The Cramps, Concrete
Blonde, Sonic Youth, PJ Harvey, Danielle Dax, Talking Heads, and Penguin
Cafe Orchestra. Your vehicular inclinations lean toward old (pre 72)
Cadillacs with a body style that resembles an overgrown station wagon, that
used to carry bodies.
For vacations, you love third world countries, most recently Equador and
Peru. Unfortunately they were fighting.
More than you ever wanted to know about yourself, eh?
Regards,
You
