Books and Monkeys

Since we've been crossreferencing literature with TRP, I was
reminded by the virus post of Maxine Hong Kingston's TRIPMASTER
MONKEY, an extremely interesting book, grounded in the Oakland-
Berkeley area and various chemical substances.  It struck me
while reading it that she and Pynchon probably didn't influence
each other, but that they had attended some of the same parties!

Any thoughts?
