I just checked Infinite Jest out of the library and am
taking it on a week's vacation as my sole reading matter, so
folks must know I'm serious about giving DFW another unbiased
try. However, for those who have recently asked, let me
reiterate my findings of some years ago, upon reading
BROOM OF THE SYSTEM: at that time--and details now grow
hazy--I was moved to say in print that DFW copied the characters,
plot, affectations and pop-sci underpinning of COL49 almost
item for item, person, for person, etc.
Anyone see that first novel differently?
