Thanks. You're quite right. I saw Our Hitler in college back in 1978 or
1979 at its premier in DC. H-J Syberberg was supposed to be there, but
didn't show up. Schlondorff is suited to Proust; Syberberg for TRP, and
given his taste for opera, perhaps, he could take a shot at V. In
Love--which, like the grand inquisitor, is one of the great self-contained
chapters in literature.
Parsifal was indeed amazing. Do you--or anyone else--know if either of these
films are available on videotape? The version of Our Hitler I saw was five
or six hours long.
