One is Elem Klimov's "Come and See," (1985) about a young boy's passage
to manhood during the Nazi occupation of Byelorussia. (I saw this,
appropriately enough, in Managua, Nicaragua, in 1987. It didn't seem to
be packing in the Nicas, though, and I could imagine why. There were
already more than enough real-life atrocities daily, without having to
pay for celluloid ones too.)
