Vitenam and Pynchon - Wrong Question?

The tale of a slave girl aquiring language from her master, and having to deal 
with the problem of speaking the tongue of the (very male) conquerers.
The possible relationship with _Foe_  (which is a complex retelling of 
Defoe's classic tale by a female narrator, coming to grips with her own 
story and that of the tongue-less Friday) is quite fascinating. Especially 
since Coetzee's translation isn't quite literal, starting with the title.

PS. Forgot to mention 1990's Age of Iron previously. I guess that 
makes it seven fiction publications....
