used copies of Vineland

Can anyone enlighten me as to why every used bookstore I go to has at
least one copy of Vineland and nothing else by Pynchon? For instance,
the Strand in NYC must have at least 5 copies of VL, but no GR, V., etc.
I'm assuming that VL was way-hyped when released and truckloads of copies
were published. Or maybe nobody has enough shelfspace in their personal
collections to hold on to VL and still have enough room for their
brand-new copy of Infinite Jest...
I *have* seen small used trade paperback copies of GR, COL49, but
*very* rarely. And none had godzilla stickers on 'em.

BTW, thanks Rich for lending me your copy of VL; still haven't started it
yet. One of these days...Oh, and I did remember to bring the Lotion CD
w/ bob hope vietnam.
