Happy Birthday, Mr. Pynchon!

On this festive occasion, thought I'd fill the community in on some more Wanda
Tinasky lore.

I received a phone call only yesterday from T R Factor, who if you remember an
earlier posting is the editor of the "Finally available" letters of Wanda
Tinasky.

T R Factor is really a person, not the transparent pseudonym you might have
suspected. She worked as a columnist for the _AVA_ in Booneville, Calif., from
1985-87, when Wanda was writing letters to the same paper. Now she runs the
Vers Libres Press in Portland, Oregon, among other activities.

_The Letters of Wanda Tinasky_ have been edited, annotated to Nabokovian depth,
illustrated lavishly, and set in type. They have *not*, however, been sent to
the printer. T R Factor needs *500* paid orders before she can have the first
run of 2500 copies printed. So let's help out, shall we? I said caveat emptor
before, now I'll vouch for the bona fides of this offer.

To order a copy of _The Letters of Wanda Tinasky_, send a check or money order
for $25 to

Vers Libres Press
P.O. Box 2911
Portland, OR 97208

And if you can't do that... hoist a cold one for our subject at hand.

Cheers, Brian
