Yes yes yes. IMO Catch-22 isn't even about WWII, but about the post-War creation 
of the Organization Man and his happy homemaker wife.  The Mike Nicholls film 
got this wrong--w/ all those B-25s taxiing around at top volume alla time--and tried 
to make it into a war movie of sorts.  I also think the  Euro-surface of GR is just a 
screen behind which we make out, constantly, our own cultural legacy, history, 
future, etc.
