In an interesting confluence of ideas (coincidence? conspiracy?), this
discussion of the nature and knowability of reality mirrors a similar debate
on a writers list I follow.

 Both arguments  remind me of my favorite epistemological mantra, source
unknown: "The map is not the terrain, much less the journey."

 Or in this case, the law of gravity obviously isn't the same as gravity;
it's a description, however refined or imperfect, of the way a natural force
called gravity behaves. And it certainly isn't the same as falling.
