HI folks,

Just a last ditch effort for comments and suggestions here. I've already
done much of the leg work through alt.config, and have changed the proposed
name from alt.books.thomas-pynchon to the simple alt.books.pynchon. I'm
ready to send a control message which will create this group, but I'd like
some input from the Pynchon-L mailing list vis-a-vis suggestions for the
charter. Below is a sample of the proposal posted (altered name) earlier.
Please email your comments directly to me, and I look forward to seeing some
of you, hopefully most of you, on the new newsgroup.

alt.books.pynchon Discuss the writings of Thomas Pynchon

Although there is a Thomas Pynchon mailing list, Pynchon-L, a Usenet
group would be more widely accessible to Internet users, and would
facilitate more varied discussion of the author's works -- other than
the more "literary" discussions found on the mailing list. Topics for
discussion could include any of the author's past writings, and the
upcoming novel _Mason & Dixon_, scheduled for release in the Spring '97.

Thomas Pynchon's writings are many times paranoid, anarchistic and
subverting -- and he would fit in nicely under the ALT hierarchy.
