Warren Zevon and TRP

In the liner notes to his most recent, of several, greatest hits anthologies
(not sure of the title: it's a double disc set), Warren Zevon blames the
techno-excess of his mid-eighties album 'Transverse City' on having read the
entire Pynchon oeuvre immediately prior to recording.  As I remember it, the
album's akin to Neil Young's 'Trans', but less successful.  I don't have a
copy to study for direct TRP allusions: does anyone know if there are any?
