The list's interest in Kafka emboldens me enuff to toot my own
horn (and the horns of a couple of other writers): the latest
issue of SF AGE (Jan 1997, on newstands everywhere) contains
my story "The Jackdaw's Last Case", which reimagines Kafka as the
Shadow in NYC--obviously an alternate existence. A review of
the latest Guy Davenport collection mentions a story therein
w/ Kafka as protagonist. A friend tells me Roth wrote one such
also. And I know my Sf buddy Carter Scholz did one some years ago
too. Pretty soon we'll have enuff for an anthology: KAFKA THE
HERO!
