Dennis Potter screenings in NYC

I think that most Pynchophiles would get a lot out of the work of Dennis
Potter, the late television writer whose work includes The Singing
Detective, Pennies from Heaven (which "inspired" the Steve Martin version),
and Dreamchild. Like Pynchon's writings, Potter's sophisticated dramas are
full of puzzles, high and low comedy, and the oddly interpolated musical
number. They truly represent television at its finest.

Although all of Potter's works are apparently available for viewing on the
small private screens of the Museum of Television and Radio, the museum will
be projecting one of his last works, Cold Lazarus on Saturday and Sunday
this weekend. Yesterday evening I saw the first two segments of Cold Lazarus
(it's a science fiction drama linked with Potter's recently screened
Karaoke); I look forward to seeing the final two episodes soon.
