Iron & Banana Peels

Well that iron there, you know, keeps on coming up. It's got those deep
mysterious alchemic connotations and all. I mean there is the
Niebelungen forging down there; and there's Tom Rush's "wind turn(ing)
iron cold;" and Willy Nelsons "Pancho" "wore his skin like iron, and his
breath like kerosene."
And wasn't the dear old US of A forged in the ice and cold of Valley
Forge, PA?
Maybe it is all connected, who knows?

I never smoked no banana peels, but I did try Richard Farina's scheme of
soaking cigarettes in paregoric. It worked, but it was weird.
