A great riff on the "deep mysterious alchemic connotations" of iron, Doug.
But I've gotta point out that no matter how well ol' Willie, that
rusty-voiced red-headed stranger, might have covered "Pancho and Lefty,"
it's a tune by Townes Van Zandt, a fella I'd be surprised if old' Tom
doesn't own some by now scratchy albums by, specially since Townes came out
of that same Texas mix that yielded Roky Erikson and the 13th Floor
Elevators.
