Zofia Kolbuszewska (zofia.h.kolbuszewska-1 at tc.umn.edu) has asked me to
post a query for her. Has anyone investigated the possible relation
between the revolutionary Konrad Bortz imagines in the history of Tristero
and Mickiewicz's Konrad, the most famous romantic hero in the Polish literary
tradition? Is the name just a coincidence, or, given the way Pynchon
usually gets Polish history and tradition exactly right, significant?
