Thanks, George. Never been much of a Hunter S. Thomspon fan, as I always
felt he gave drugs a bad name, as well as encouraging by example stupid
overdosing, mixing the wrong things, and generally abusing substances
that are really antidotes to the general horror of our time. He wasn't a
psychedelic prophet, he was a tawdry glutton.

As they say in Mexican alcohol announcements, "Todo en medida; nada en
exceso." -- Everything in measure, nothing in excess. I don't think that
applies to art, necessarily, or love, or sensuality, but it sure applies
to these potentially very toxic potions we use to survive the disgusting
insults we are subjected to every day: smog, crowding, hate, noise...ad
infinitum. Very little of that here; consequently very little drug
abuse--although kids will be kids.

I feel it's very important to post this message. When I describe our
drug use in the Sixties and Seventies, I am not recommending it, neither
directly nor by inference. I myself fell into problems with alcohol when
I was at Cornell because I thought that's what college and writing was
all about, thanks to F. Scott Fitzgerald and others. My anecdotes are
there to amuse and instruct, not to glorify.
