"Profiler" Shows (was: Millenium/Counterforce)

Has anyone noticed how we're all of a sudden getting a bunch of shows
about what is essentially criminal profiling?

I guess the first was Silence of the Lambs.  Then came X-Files and now
Profiler and Millenium.

Though here's an odd bit of synchronicity:  this past Sunday I caught the
latter half of some old B&W movie being aired on the local PBS station.
Didn't catch the title but is starred Dana Andrews and Vincent Price.  It
was about a news reporter and a cop teaming up to develop a profile on a
serial killer.
