Actually I was one of those who requested the article by private
mail. I am grateful that you did post it. I had heard of the
article a couple of years ago but had never read it. I appreciate you
posting it and am sorry that I was remiss in not properly thanking
you for doing so.

Although your article and your "interviews" with your ex-wife are
mildly interesting snatches of Pynchonalia there is little of value
to a serious student of Pynchon seeking to enhance understanding of
the text. Color me a radical Formalist, but TRP's sexual prowess,
sexual proclivities, and sexual partners are of little relevance to his
work. I do not feel the need to materially compensate you
for your article, for questioning your ex-wife, or for your personal
insight. There are other professional writers on this list, none of
whom in my memory have ever dunned us for payment.

This list is a voluntary enterprise. If you feel your contributions
are under-appreciated, then cease contributing. I also still hold to
my original assertion that their are more deserving donees for
surplus literature and heterosexual porn. You are presumably
employable and relatively unoppressed (by, say,
Timorese/Chiapas/African-American standards) so I would have to reject
you as a worthy candidate for a fundraiser.

Thanks again for the article,
Michael Glosup
