Hi all,
I hate to distract anyone from the GR/GR, the Rainbow being reading
material enough for anyone, but I wanted to inform folks that I just
saw Lawrence Norfolk's "The Pope's Rhinoceros" in my Local Bookstore,
so it's now out in the US.
For those just joining us, his first novel, "Lempriere's Dictionary",
is a lot of fun, historical and wacky at the same time, and very
Pynchonian in places; there are specific scenes which seem
specifically to be parodies of Pynchon (I mean parody in the old
sense, not "making fun of"). I don't know much about the new book
except that it takes place in 1515 or so; the British quotes on the
back are all pretty ravetastic.
