Okay, I just saw Andrew's post (thanks) and feel duly ridiculous.  No 
need to reply to my earlier post.

By the way, Phoenix is really something.  I'm not sure what.  ASU is, as 
well.  Actually, it's the adjustment that's tough (to 100+ weather).  But 
it's been cooling off and is getting really nice.  Went to a cool place 
called Arcosanti--read about it at www.arcosanti.com (not sure about that 
suffix, maybe it's .html ??) Paolo Soleri's dream of 
architecture/ecology--a facility that relies upon passsive solar energy 
(and other natural forms) to cool and heat *IN THE DESERT*!!  Very 
beautiful and idealistic and hopeful.  Funny, I kept thinking about the 
"shape of things to come."  The whole place is built of arcs (apses).  
Mike didn't want so much to hear about my apocalyptic vision while on the 
tour--maybe afraid I'd worry the other tourists.
