1.  I am the lucky enough to have a copy of the first edition of Been Down So
Long It Looks Like Up to Me, published by Random House in 1966, and the Pynchon
link goes like this: 

Inside front of dustwrapper, at the top left (the quotation marks are in the
original):

At the lower left corner is the following:
