Bonnie mentions:
"Actually, it's the adjustment that's tough (to 100+ weather). But
it's been cooling off and is getting really nice. Went to a cool place
called Arcosanti--read about it at www.arcosanti.com (not sure about that
suffix, maybe it's .html ??) Paolo Soleri's dream of
architecture/ecology--a facility that relies upon passsive solar energy
(and other natural forms) to cool and heat *IN THE DESERT*!! Very
beautiful and idealistic and hopeful. Funny, I kept thinking about the
"shape of things to come.""
Blueprints of Acrosanti used to be popular wall decorations in the late '60s,
and Soleri was a hip name to throw around, like Buckminster Fuller. Now that
buckyballs are all the rage and Acrosanti has a website, maybe time is coming
full circle.
A-and maybe it means that Pynchon *will* publish *that* novel sometime soon!
