M&D reading supplies

All of this mention about longitude and especially the blurb by davemarc
confirms my earliest suspicion when I read the press release -- that M & D
sounds an awfully lot like Umberto Eco's last book, "Island of Lost Souls."
(Well, inasmuch as anything by TRP can resemble anything by anyone else.)
Which also leads me to wonder if he read the Eco volume and thus finally
decided to rush M & D into the book sellers across North America. Or if the
whole thing isn't just another one of those many coincidences which makes up
this wacky world. Or maybe I'm wrong, and there is no relationship between
the two books, aside from longitude. I predict there will be much discussion
on this point once all of us get around to reading our very own copies, mine
of which I just reserved two days ago. And if you haven't read the Eco book,
I recommend it highly.

Mark.
