Hyacinths have poked their Heads, burst the veil of Earth, as of
Bodices, discharged Perfume away into the cool Breeze off Central
Park,--the Rollerblades are brought out and their Wheels carefully
dried and greased, shoes are deposited in the back Packs, a caster'd
foot Ascent made upon the great Street, in an increasing Vigor since
Winter, punctuated by the tooting Horns of Hackneys and Motor-Cars,
fragrant with Daffodils, white Daisies, Willow, sweet Fern,--the
P-listers, having all upon the Fly, among the rhythmic drips of
Guinness and Bass, quaff'd and slurped what they might, proceed, as
upon each evening all this greening April, to a comfortable Room in
the midst of the City, years since given over to their devoted
Musings.
Pynchon List New York will meet Eric Alan Weinstein on Monday, April
14th at 7PM. (The alternate date is Tuesday, April 15th.) Place to
be announced. RSVP to Christine Karatnytsky at
ckaratnytsky at nypl.org
with suggestions and preferences. Pynchon List New York will also
meet at KGB on April 27th, for those who are unable to make this first
meeting.
Should the amiable Mr. Thomas Ruggles Pynchon favor us with his
presence, he can be assur'd that his Glass would always be full.
Now drink we, quod she, of this mazer and quaff ye this mead which is
not indeed parcel of my body but my soul's bodiment.
Chris
