I'm surprised that such a meme would still get play in a literary season
which features long-awaited new novels from Pynchon and Delillo, not to
mention new work by Bradford Morrow, Stewart O'Nan and even, God help us,
a new novel from Norman Mailer (did anybody see the NYT review of the
Mailer book Monday (www.nytimes.com/books/ for those online? If it weren't
the 14th, I would have thought it was a joke...now I wonder if it's the
evil flip side historical novel to M&D...)
